The nine are accused of killing 41 ethnic Albanians in the village of Cuska in 1999.
Serbia’s government has been trying to address the atrocities of the Balkan wars as it seeks membership in the European Union.
Thousands were killed during the Kosovo war, during which Serbian troops fought ethnic Albanian insurgents. The war ended with the 1999 NATO bombing of Serbian forces.
Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008.
Serbian prosecutors say a total of 26 people are under investigation for the killing of 200 people in Cuska and surrounding villages.
