Thriller voted most ground-breaking pop video – Michael Jackson legend

Michael Jackson’s video for Thriller was yesterday named the most ground-breaking pop promo in music history.

The 14-minute mini movie for the 1983 No. 1 hit beat off efforts from Queen, Johnny Cash and Peter Gabriel.

Thriller took 15.2% of the vote. At £327,000, it was the priciest promo of its time.

Us indie band OK Go’s 2006 viral hit Here It Goes Again came second with 11.7%, and Britney Spears’ video for Baby One More Time, in which she appears dressed as a schoolgirl, came third.
